Daye Jack is really growing on me. I wasn’t sold as quickly on the 18-year-old NYU student as a good portion of the rest of the blogosphere was, but after following him for the past six months or so, his talent and consistency have turned me into a fan.
“Summer Day” is probably my favorite single of his to date as it highlights a potential (not to mention, wide open) lane for Daye to sprint through. FADER noted that the song has a sort of Sublime feel to it, and I can’t disagree. This definitely isn’t rap, and I don’t think Daye had any intention of it being labeled that. It’s lighthearted, melodic, nostalgic and catchy; if the rest of his forthcoming Soul Glitch tape is anything like this, Daye is about to have a breakout year in 2015.
Watch above, and stay tuned for more.
