Tunji Ige‘s “Day2Day” was one of the biggest (and dare I say, best) underground hip-hop records of the entire summer (along with “U Guessed It,” Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” and Makonnen‘s entire catalogue). I heard the original, and days later, the Michael Christmas and Makonnen-assisted remix was in the works. The song took off, and an official video surfaced a couple weeks back (watch below).
Yesterday, the track was given yet another breath of fresh new life courtesy of Chris Justice, Drewsdatdude, and Fortune. The trio of producers connected and concocted an incredible remix of the feel-good cut, somehow managing to make it feel even better. This rework grabs both Tunji verses from the original, and Christmas’s from the remix, and the result is exceptionally pleasing.
