A line between hip-hop and the unknown new age of music continues to blur with the breakthrough of new artists every day. Enter Dynamo, a rising 23-year-old lyricist who thrives on originality. His debut mixtape, Belize, is fueled by a vast array of sounds stretching from system-slappers to eerie 4 AM synth vibes.
Raw hip-hop pervades the roots of Belize, and the skits dashed lightly across a handful of tracks serve as bait to catch new listeners for just a brief thought or two. Dynamo’s penchant for crafty writing writing comes off strong in songs like “White Willow,” where his dynamic flow and clever wordplay command the spotlight. The production selection is unique, complete with an array of alluring original beats, including the brooding waves of “Iris” and the haunting synths of “Forklift.”
