Last week, Gio Dee—one of Boston’s top rising talents—dropped off his latest, a new video single called “Come Clean.” We’re a bit late on the post, but this one’s been in rotation since it dropped.
Dee spills his soul over the emotive, horn-laced Humbeats instrumental, taking a moment to admit to listeners that, “I lost my sense of my damn direction, left the church and ever since I’ve been finessin’, yeah nigga, I admit it, I have addiction for this fast life and fuckin’ women.”
He goes on to reminisce about his late friend Von P, voice his ever-relatable sense of feeling misunderstood, and express that whether people around him accept it or not, he’s going to continue to evolve (beyond just musically) on his climb to the top. He’s learned that progression isn’t all glory, and he’s desperate for others to see the same thing he’s experienced first hand.
It’s undoubtedly one of Dee’s most heartfelt tracks to date, and with #TOTB2 on the way, it’s a promising sign that the tape is going to be a big step forward for the Boston native. Watch “Come Clean” above, and stay tuned for more.
