Give this one your full attention. 20-year-old Los Angeles spitter Cozz splashed down earlier today with his debut video for a strikingly bold introductory track called “Dreams,” and it’s one of the more impressive song/visual pairings I’ve seen all year to date.
Directed by John Merizalde, the fittingly dark video finds Cozz and company invading the night as he raps aggressively over the haunting Meez instrumental. The young emcee’s emotion bleeds through the screen and the headphones simultaneously, and there’s something about his confidence – especially for a newcomer – that makes for a truly alluring production.
Cozz’s passionate delivery on the chantworthy hook brings the bars full circle, and his unapologetic edginess has me anticipating the hell out of whatever’s next. Watch “Dreams” above, and stay tuned for more.
“Crazy how lousy these niggas sounding, I heard these niggas talking, they never talk around me, nigga you listen to Casey Veggies you ain’t about beef, oh you scary? Well I’m more than scary to the ordinary storytellin’ motherfucking author…”
