[VIDEO]: John Robinson – Live at Green Street Jungle

Who is JR?

That was the question I wanted an answer to when I entered the Green Street Jungle in Boston last Friday night. John Robinson and Beantown’s own Moe Pope graced the Green Street Vault x Annie Mulz pop-up shop with their presence for an intimate in-store performance that evening, but like many others, I hadn’t heard of the mysterious emcee (peep the Twitter handle: @whoisjr) out of NY known as JR.

As it turns out, I’m thankful I had the chance to get my answer. John Robinson, the “prolific emcee/writer/world traveler/visionary/Lil Sci of Scienz of Life” (according to his Twitter bio), put on a spectacular performance and had the crowd fully engaged for the duration of his set.

His lyricism and effortlessly smooth, poetic storytelling ability captivated the creative minds that filled the room, and his almost mythical reputation in the underground hip-hop community certainly became justified – at least from my point of view.

Check out the video above, shot and edited by Decriminals. Stay tuned for exclusive coverage of more great events set to take place in the Jungle this summer.
